Upcoming Study Opportunities:

Resurrection, Salvation, Hope - Adult Sunday School Class

How are they tied to our daily lives now? To the Kingdom of God? These topics are explored in-depth in the Adult Sunday School class at 11:00 a.m. which started Oct. 1. We are studying the book Surprised by Hope by N.T. Wright, one of the world's top Biblical scholars and a Bishop in the Church of England. The book challenges some common notions about these topics and offers a fresh look at this cluster of issues today. All are welcome to join us! We need your fresh ideas and questions to add to our discussions as we journey together. We meet in Rm 7 to the left of the Fellowship Hall. Come anytime. Hope to you see you there!

Christian Discipleship

Adopt a College Student!

Many of our GS Young Adults are busy with college life, but want to stay connected to their church family! What better way to let them know they are loved and still in our thoughts and prayers than to be in touch with them through mail, email, texts, and a care package or two.... If you want to extend the love and support of our GSUMC family to our young adults, please stop by the Adopt a College Student table in the lobby and sign up!

New Members - Inquirers Class

Are you interested in learning more about Good Shepherd and exploring the possibility of joining our GSUMC family? Please join us on September 17th at 12:30 for a lite luncheon in Room 7 (off the Fellowship Hall)

Our Mission for 2017

Welcome to 2017, "The Year of Servant Leadership" at Good Shepherd. Throughout this year we will explore what it means to serve like Jesus and to lead others to do likewise. A great way to start this journey is by joining one of our new studies starting this month. Women are invited to study "The Inheritance" and men are invited to the study "Christian" both starting January 18th. There will also be a leadership study starting on January 28th and a sermon series to follow called "Serve Like Jesus." Let's commit in the year ahead to be Servant Leaders who understand that to serve others, one must be open to learning and to ever emerging as a leader who serves.

GSUMC Mission Trip: Rebuilding Rainelle

On June 23, 2016 Rainlelle, WV was hit by flood waters that claimed lives and damaged homes and businesses. GSUMC sent a team of 10 to participate with Appalachia Service Project to restore families to their homes.

Discipleship Ministry Team

The Discipleship Ministry Team's purpose is to provide learning experiences for people
of all ages so that they may grow in their understanding of the good news of Jesus Christ
and become better equipped for daily living as faithful disciples.

When the Discipleship Ministry Team meets, it is always open to everyone who wants
to take an active role in helping others grow in their faith. Contact the church office at
(301)843-6797 for more information.

The Bible is the book for all of God's people and the Discipleship Ministry is pleased to place
Bibles on the Welcome Table in the church entrance for anyone who either needs one or knows
someone who needs a Bible. This is just one of the many ways we have of sharing God's Word.
